🏙
What to see

The obvious: Burj Khalifa (book the At the Top deck 2–3 days ahead to save ₹700–1,000 vs walk-up price), Dubai Mall, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Frame.

Less obvious: Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood for old Dubai, the Gold and Spice Souks (take the abra water taxi — ₹1 per person), and a Friday brunch if your budget allows.

Skip: anything with a "Dubai World Record" sign attached. The record is always "biggest indoor something" and it is never worth the entry fee.

🍽
Eating in Dubai

Dubai is not expensive if you eat where locals eat. Cafeteria-style restaurants in Deira serve full meals for AED 15–25 (₹340–570). Shawarma shops on Al Dhiyafa Road are legendary.

Mid-range: JBR Walk has decent options without the Downtown price premium. For Indian food (outstanding quality), the restaurants on Al Rigga Road are hard to beat.

Budget tip: supermarkets (Carrefour, Lulu) have hot food counters that are excellent value. Buy breakfast and snacks there — hotel minibar prices are ruthless.

🚇
Getting around

The Dubai Metro is excellent — clean, air-conditioned, punctual and cheap (AED 2–8 per trip). The Red and Green lines cover most tourist areas.

Taxis are metered, affordable by Dubai standards, and the drivers are generally honest. Careem (the regional Uber) is also reliable.

Avoid renting a car unless you are doing a road trip to Abu Dhabi — parking and traffic in central Dubai cancel any convenience advantage.

🌡
Weather & timing

November to March: 20–28°C, perfect. This is peak season — book ahead and expect higher hotel prices.

April–May and September–October: 30–38°C, manageable if you are mostly indoors or in the evenings.

June–August: 42–48°C with high humidity. Genuinely unpleasant outdoors. Flights and hotels are very cheap if that is your priority.

Dubai travel FAQ.

Do Indians need a visa for Dubai?
Yes. Indian passport holders need a pre-approved UAE tourist visa — there is no visa-free entry. A 30-day single-entry e-visa costs roughly ₹7,000–9,000 through authorised agents or airlines and takes 3–4 working days. Exception: Indians holding a valid US, UK or EU visa or residence permit can get a 14-day visa on arrival (approximately AED 250).
What is the cheapest month to fly Delhi to Dubai?
June, July and August have the lowest fares — often 30–40% below peak prices — because the extreme heat reduces demand. If your trip is primarily indoor activities (malls, restaurants, museums), summer can be excellent value.
Is Dubai expensive for Indians?
It depends heavily on your choices. Flights and mid-range hotels are affordable. Food can be cheap (AED 20 street meals) or extremely expensive (AED 400 restaurant meals). Attractions vary — the Metro and souks are cheap; the Burj Khalifa and desert safaris are moderate; high-end brunch is expensive.
How many days is enough for Dubai?
3–4 days covers the main highlights comfortably. 5–6 days allows a day trip to Abu Dhabi (Louvre, Sheikh Zayed Mosque) and a desert safari. Beyond 6 days risks repetition unless you are there for a specific purpose.
Can I use INR in Dubai?
No. The currency is UAE Dirham (AED). Exchange at the airport is expensive — use a no-forex-fee card or exchange at a money changer in Deira or Karama, which offer better rates than hotel desks or airport counters.
